　　With the development of science, human life has changed tremendously. People living in the 18th or 19th centuries would never imagine the advanced household appliances we are now able to enjoy. Every aspect of our lives, for instance, in the field of medicine oragriculture has witnessed great improvements through the application of science.

　　随着科学的发展，人类的生活发生了巨大的变化。18世纪和19世纪的人无法想象我们现在所享用的家用器具。我们生活的.各个方面，比如医药、农业，都经历了科学所带来的改善。

　　However, many people complained that science has also brought disasters to human life. Some evil scientists have used their knowledge to do some illegal things. They may use science for the creation of weapons to destroy thousands of lives in wars. They might also use their knowledge to produce drugs to make a lot of money for themselves.

　　然而，也有人抱怨科学带给人类许多灾难。有些邪恶的科学家利用他们的知识做一些非法之事。他们用科学知识制造武器在战争中摧毁成千上百的生命;他们用其知识制造毒品赚取钱财。

　　Generally speaking, science has provided us with many valuable things. But if used wrongly, it can also lead to harm. We should try to keep science under control and put it to the best use of mankind.

　　总的来说，科学为我们带来许多有价值的东西。但是一旦被错误地使用，它也能导致伤害。我们应该使之置于我们控制之下，使其为人类发挥出最大作用。

　　Science enables human beings to progress rapidly and lead a better life. For example, Edison's invention of the light bulb brought our gloomy life to the end and created a bright world for us. Another case in point is Watt's discovery of the steam engine, which triggered the industrial revolution in the western countries, and later all over the world.

　　Meanwhile, sometimes science does have some side effects. A good illustration of this is atomic energy, which can destroy human beings completdy when used in nuclear weapons.

　　Anyhow, it is men who develop science. And science, in turn, will do us good in general. As for its side effects, I believe human beings will be rational enough to avoid them or keep them under control.

　　Science and technology have been bringing human beings tremendous benefits. Thanks to science and technology, we now live comfortably and conveniently in houses furnished with air conditioners, refrigerators, washing machines and televisions etc. Thanks to science and technology, we can eat fresh vegetables att the year round. Thanks to science and technology, we can travel tong distances in the fraction of a second on planes, trains and cars. Thanks to science and technology, we wear clothes with synthetic materials which can not easily be worn out.

　　However, science and technology have atso brought us a tot of disasters. First, because of the many breakthroughs in the field of medicine, people are now living much longer than they used to. As a result, the population of the world is increasing, causing tots of problems. Second, because of the development of industry, tots of the wastes from factories pour into the air and rivers, causing pollution of att kinds. Third, some terrorists are using science and technology against mankind. They use biological, chemical and unclear weapons to threaten world peace...

　　So it's urgent that we find ways to solve these problems. But we should not stop the development of science and technology because of these disasters they bring, just as we should not give up eating for fear of choking. In addition, we should make some rules to regulate our actions. As long as we use science and technology in a proper way, they may bring us even more benefits.
